@foone Then you can build another one using a BME280 - throw it in the air - altitude difference gives different letters.
@WilliamNB My everyday footwear for about the last quarter century has been Berghaus trek boots slightly varying pattern names over the years. A friend swears by Altberg (to the extent that in addition to his hiking boots he had them custom fit a pair of safety boots he uses for work).
@snowden There are magnets embedded in the bottom, so it'll stick to a 3d printer (or in the case of the hackspace, a couple of them stuck to a rack full of 3d printers).
@snowden Is it a stack light? No, not really. Will it still show the status of a 3d printer? Yup! Can it do this without being horrendously expensive? Absolutely!
@ost_observatory "Overwhelmingly Small Telescope"... "PlaneWave CDK20 Astrograph" 🤣 *scope envy intensifies* #ScopeEnvy

@bloor Perfectly sensible - things that may not see a great deal of use, go cheap, if you wear them out invest in the nice version. Only exceptions are where cheap tools may result in wasted expensive materials.
@neil Its definitely not for everyone, but is an often overlooked alternative.
@neil See if your preferred device is supported by sailfish? (Either officially or via a community port). I've been using it since way back when Jolla launched their first phone and feel no reason to swap to android/ios.
@neil Unfortunately the last time I owned a compact digital camera it used a CF card (and didn't have zoom). My camera obsession has now got rather spendy (although I'm taking advantage of second hand stuff because other people are shifting to mirrorless). A phone meets all requirements except physical zoom. Compact cameras from the usual suspects seem to be over budget, second hand may solve that, but would probably result in something old enough to not meet the USB-C requirement. A conundrum!!
