New instance, new #introduction 😄
We have just left astrodon.social, which is closing down, to find a new home at scicomm.xyz. Thanks!

We are the OST (Overwhelmingly Small Telescope) Observatory at the University of Potsdam in Golm, on the outskirts of Potsdam, Germany.

Our main telescope is a PlaneWave CDK20 Astrograph. We focus on educating students in astronomy and supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate projects. We occasionally capture and share astronomical images, and we are excited to post some of them here.

We are also passionate about science outreach and regularly participate in public events such as the Potsdam Day of Science and the Long Night of Astronomy.

@ost_observatory na ja, ihr seid schon mitten drin im Fediverse

Nur noch mal zur Erklärung, weil euch das mit Mastodon nicht gezeigt wird.
Dieses Netzwerk ist ein Verbund von Softwarelösungen, eure heißt Mastodon, meine heißt Calckey und dann gibt es noch ca 150 andere.

Auf email übertragen würde es bedeuten, ihr begrüßt in euren mails mit Verteiler nur alle Outlook Benutzer.
Oder bildlich, auf dem 80 Geburtstag von Omma Elfriede, begrüßt ihr nur alle die was blaues anhaben und stolziert am Rest vorbei.
Klinkt nicht so doll.

Das Netzwerk wo ihr euch jetzt bewegt, ist das Fediverse, über das ihr mit der Software Mastodon zugriff nehmt 👍

Meine Fediverse Software zeigt uns das auch optisch an, mit welcher Software die Instanz läuft, mit der unsere Instanz verbunden ist. Das macht es wesentlich leichter, das Fediverse zu verstehen und auch, das alle nur ein Teil des ganzem sind.
