Raku firing is an ancient Japanese ceramics technique that dates back to the 16th century.
Glazed pieces are taken from the kiln when red hot and placed in a combustible organic material that catches fire. This is done to starve the oxygen from the container and creates a myriad of colours, creating completely unique pieces.
