You may know me from such defunct social websites as livejournal, assorted mid-2000s bulletin boards, and the Yahoo! Ann Landers discussion chatroom. Former librarian and museum educator, almost biologist, current web developer, future ???
Towards the end of the end of the series there is a lot of ominous talk about "le peloton," which I really should have figured out faster but I think I was distracted Peloton™️ and the competitive cycling usage. Even when I looked it up, the first dictionary definition was just "platoon" and eventually I figured out from context that it meant "firing squad" - "peloton d'execution." But I got there! I'm pretty sure I learned some useful vocab too.
Just finished watching "Les Combattantes/Women at War" on Netflix (recommend!), which I watch with the French captions because I'm trying to improve my French (and my listening comprehension is probably my weakest language skill). Anyway I have learned lots of vocabulary around sighing/groaning/moaning (a lot of the show is set in a military hospital).
Please enjoy the deeply cursed bike rack at my hair stylist's. #biking #bikeracks #badbikeracks
Also does Mike's have the best sign? Not making a poll because the answer is yes:
Mad props to the guy in the Securitas uniform getting the scallop plate at Mike's Roast Beef just after midnight. I'm just getting a junior beef and some fries after post-Red Sox cocktails but you're really going for it.
Earlier today I was hosing a bunch of leaves off my patio and I exposed a giant earthworm who did not seem thrilled about it and then when I came back it was gone and I was like, "oh good it found another leaf pile" but just now it occurred to me that actually it was probably eaten by a bird. Sorry, worm! You're welcome, bird!
Anyway that's why I mostly don't drive! Although I suppose biking tired has its own consequences...

I drove tired on Sunday and my driving was sufficiently poor that my insurance snapshot monitoring device thingy noticed! I slipped from an A+ to an A :( and I was not even "falling asleep at the wheel" tired, just "wow that was a really busy weekend and I want to lie down on the floor for a while" tired.

Three hard brakes on my way home from my sister's on Sunday - previously I'd had three hard brakes TOTAL since the beginning of March. Yikes. Driving is hard.

Noticed an ominous regular dripping noise and started freaking about pipe and/or roof leaks, then realized I'd left the metronome app on.
Been thinking about an anecdote I heard during an Irish Studies class I took in the late 90s - a (Catholic?) peace activist was visiting a (Protestant?) church and for communion they passed around a basket of something like Carr's water crackers; fish-out-of-water activist took an entire cracker and was trying to wash it down with only the tiny cup of grape juice (or wine?) and realized too late that everyone else was breaking tiny pieces off the cracker. #goodfridayagreement #church #crackers
