@railmaps I know you have been doing this for a decade, and my 4 years as a late comer are piddling. But the incidental education about railways I have picked up from following your pics has been very valuable.
I don’t know how to put the last decade on repeat for newcomers, but if there is an easy was to do so, and all the posts I missed due to not checking Mastodon daily, I think everyone would be pleased. Obviously, if it is hard, I just want to thank you for a great service!
@pjf I’m in the middle of this too. Given my own similar tendencies I think i should make a “actually valuable in cash” shelf to distinguish against “better to keep in case” stuff as I worry i might have sent away for re-use something quite rare.
That said, I justified every “let it go” as a chance for someone to find their little gem, as I sometimes do at the op-shop.
@julian @JulianOliver all this stuff is useful, but ignores existing non-government support.
Step one has to be using existing non-government organisations that haven’t waited for a crisis to organise. Your local Lions, Rotary, neighbourhood centres, school p&c, food banks etc. have built the connections and relationships already to support local needs. It is fun to imagine end of the world stuff but these local groups already know who to call and how to help.

Anyone in Melbourne this Sunday (14/12) and wondering what to do, well let me help you!
There will be a display of vintage computers at the Computer Swap Meet hosted at the Springer's Sports Centre - 400 Cheltenham Road Keysborough 3173
It will be open to the public at 10am, I think it there is a $3 entry fee.
I'll be there with a couple of old computers, so say hi!
