did you know that podcasts uploaded to spotify are spotify-exclusive by default and don't have an RSS feed?
pretty sure most people don't know that, as i'm now trying to get one podcast that says they're "available on all podcast platforms" to realise they're actually not.

spotify is unbelievably harmful to the podcast ecosystem.
also it's not that good of a podcast app. you should ditch it.

Passing that budget bill will instantly create the predicate for hundreds of excellent ads to use against the GOP going forward starting with the 2026 election, which is less than a year and half away.

The statement “why would I bother to read something someone couldn't be bothered to write?” almost perfectly captures so many peoples’ feelings about #AI.

And it evokes @pluralistic’s reminder that although AI probably can’t do your job, an AI salesman can probably convince your boss that it can.

In the end, this technology (or rather the market for this tech) is aimed squarely at its least noble use: cheapening and degrading human labor that doesn’t fit neatly into a balance sheet.

We're going to need to collaborate despite our differences. Let's pull it together.

The NY Times discovers that Trump is -- by far -- the most corrupt public official in American history. (But of course it refuses to use that word in the headline, because reasons...)

The Times will now return to its regular normalization of Trump extremism and criminality.

I didn't know

When I learned about the holocaust as teenager in Germany, many people from the Nazi era were still alive and lived all around me. Being the curious person I always was, I asked them about what happened and their role in it.

"I didn't know" was the boilerplate answer. And as they were relatives and friends, I believed them at first.

Then in 1981 we got a new teacher for history and he exposed the lie. Or more precise: he got us exposing those lies.

The US military base that JD Vance visited in Greenland uses fuel that can only be delivered with the help of Canadian ice breakers.

I noticed he didn't say thank you.

Thought for the day:

The media is constantly gaslighting us with the lie that our enemies are not our enemies and the problem is us; these are the same media that are overwhelmingly owned and controlled by our enemies.

Parking

His mission was to help people understand the underlying economics of public goods and services. Parking was simply the vehicle, one might say, that he chose to do so.
