Google CEO tries to tell University students to love AI. They tell him to BOO off.

It is good to see kids are saying no and fighting back. Do you know why? Because the future of bots, AI and robots doesn't offer any jobs to these young kids. They know greedy AI companies want to get rid of working class. It is simple as that.

Why RSS matters

The future of the web depends on simple, open standards.

When I was young, I learned, and was taught, how to make the computer to work efficiently and correctly, in my computer science degree.

Now it is the opposite. Do brute-force search using giant farms of computers, using a huge amount of energy and water, and get results that are not guaranteed to be correct any more.

And I was discussing with a colleague this morning that my 2001 laptop ran faster than my current top-range computer for everyday tasks. Of course, it had a much worse CPU and much less ram. And of course the software for things we still do *now* was much faster *then*.

I still have that laptop from that time running Ubuntu 4.10 from 2004 in my personal museum of computers. You would be amazed how responsive the system is for everything we do every day with a computer. I recently tested it with my son, because he was curious to see how things were then.

So we are using more powerful hardware for getting a poorer experience.

The new computers are much better for some things, such as running Agda. But, for everything else I happen to do, they were just as fast, because people programmed them in a more efficient way (they had to - there was no other way).

Copy Fail — 732 Bytes to Root

CVE-2026-31431. 100% Reliable Linux LPE — no race, no per-distro offsets, page-cache write that bypasses on-disk file-integrity tools and crosses containers. Found by Xint Code.

Thank the stars for Linux.

Seriously, I mean, it is such a gift to have it. The fact that I can download all software I need from the internet, for free, legally, to make my computer work - and it’s arguably as good or better for the most part on the desktop than any commercial option - is nothing short of a miracle in this age of surveillance and enshittification.

To all of you who see this that contribute to this modern marvel, I thank you. 🙏

Comet R3 PanSTARRS Behind Satellite Trails
Image Credit & Copyright: Uli Fehr

Explanation: Can you find the comet? Somewhere through this web of satellite trails is Comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS), a bright visitor passing through the inner Solar System. Now, the orbiting satellites themselves only appear as streaks because of the long camera exposure, over 10 minutes in this case. On the contrary, to the eye, satellites appear as points that drift slowly across the night sky and shine by reflecting sunlight -- primarily just after sunset and before sunrise. The featured image was taken just before sunrise two weeks ago from Bavaria, Germany. Presently, Comet R3 PanSTARRS is hard to see for even another reason -- because it is so (angularly) close to the Sun. As the comet rounds the Sun, it will be best seen in coming weeks from southern hemispheree skies, although then it will be heading out to interstellar space and fading. If you haven't yet found the comet, don't despair; please take a closer look just above the image center.
