@moritz on the crisis (or not) in #dataviz Very well articulated and resonates deeply with me: https://truth-and-beauty.net/texts/crisis-what-crisis

Over the past decade, interactive data visualization has gone from bold experimentation to polished, predictable formats. I’ve been reflecting on why—and after speaking with some of the best in the field, I have some theories. Here’s a look at what shaped the last 10 years and where we might be headed next.
Excellent essay by @moritz on the state of indie data visualisation:
»Crisis? What crisis? — Why 2024 was a dead year for indie dataviz — and how we’ll do much better in 2025«
You know why we Germans are so pedantic about data protection? Someone around 90 years ago went through all records available, selected people with certain criteria, with the help of IBM, and then killed them all.
We don't want to be on any list.
And now the US Gov and Musk are trying to get access to all data they have about every person and put them into a big fat DB and run AI over it.
I am afraid what they will do with that.

Flexoki 2.0 introduces 88 new colors that feel like watercolor pigments on paper. This is a continuation of my attempt to bring the feeling of analog color to digital emissive screens.
Flexoki is open source under the MIT license, and already available for most text editors, terminals, and many other apps. Flexoki 2.0 makes it into a more capable color system for UIs and more complex projects.
