@mllsc this is a tv programme about a 16th century madrigal comedy ( Festino nella sera del giovedì grasso)
my father in law made (with lots of other people) in the 1980ies. They worked three years to prepare and build the costumes. https://youtu.be/tISZsfo04jo
Nerdy enough? ;-)

@GeofCox How many were cis men? Oh yeah, sorry you already said it: nearly 11.000.
@GeofCox trans (if extrapolated from % of population):10 times underrepresented
Police (if extrapolated from % of population) 10 times overrepresented. So lets have trans people police police officers from now on. Makes more sense. #transrightsarehumanrights
In America, out of nearly 11,000 child sex offenders, 5 were trans.
89 were politicians.
301 were police officers.
578 were ordained priests.
807 were family members.

This should not be happening anywhere, let alone in the U.S. This must stop.

@buddhistdoor interesting piece. What strikes me as odd is that in stating Buddhism does not strive for a utopia, it seems to automatically accept the status quo, so the current political system, as inevitable. By doing that, it eliminates itself as a factor that shapes the political system we use.
In the 2500 years the dharma has been around, political systems have changed greatly. Have we helped shape them? Would we not have been able to contribute something meaningful? What would a sensible, pragmatic political system, based on dharma principles, look like? Representative democracy is not the only ,or indeed, naturally necessary form of government now is it? How would it be okay to fight for your country but not shape its political system?
Following a rich white man to war because you didn’t like the sound of a black woman laughing will go down in American history as one of the stupidest things ever.

It's 1991, and a republican president is embroiling us in a bullshit war in the Middle East.

It's 2003, and a republican president is embroiling us in a bullshit war in the Middle East.

It's 2025, and a republican president is embroiling us in a bullshit war in the Middle East.

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.
