The case for water nationalisation is growing https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2023/07/05/the-case-for-water-nationalisation-is-growing/. As the perilous state of Thames Water's finances becomes more apparent, the case for nationalisation of the whole sector grows ever stronger.
The stock market is failing according to the CBI. So why don’t we just let it go?

I posted this on Twitter this morning: https://twitter.com/RichardJMurphy/status/1942861045426516103 My point is serious. The CBI is saying that the situation with regard to the UK stock exchange is getting desperate, because it is losing out to overseas markets and not attracting sufficient business. The question that needs to be asked is, why is that?...

#Jetpack will no longer auto-share blog posts to #Twitter!

This is because Automattic, the company the owns Jetpack, was not able to come to a "good faith" agreement with Twitter about access to their API.

However, there's also good news.

In the same blog post, Automattic announced that auto-sharing of blog posts is coming to #Mastodon!

The End of Twitter Auto-Sharing

In early April, we experienced an unexpected suspension of our Twitter API access. This access is what powers Jetpack Social, which in turn helps you automatically share your blog posts to Twitter.…

Example of why you should not use FaceID to unlock your phone, this time from Norway: in 2022, a 28yo man filmed a uniformed police officer assault his two 26yo friends. The officer took his phone, turned it towards him to unlock it and deleted the video. https://www.vg.no/nyheter/innenriks/i/8J7A5w/politivolden-i-kongsberg-dette-vet-vi

So let me get this straight. We're all supposed to accept we're poorer, but we're also supposed to swear allegiance to a king who'll be driven to his coronation in a golden fucking coach? Am I missing something?
Generation Z is coming to the rescue. Republicans SHOULD be terrified.

So, wait… Trump’s tax cuts DIDN’T pay for themselves? They just let the ultra-rich finance their wealth on the backs of working people? And now those same supporters want to cut social security, Medicare, and the social safety net?!

Ya don’t say.

Donald Trump Built a National Debt So Big (Even Before the Pandemic) That It’ll Weigh Down the Economy for Years

The “King of Debt” promised to reduce the national debt — then his tax cuts made it surge. Add in the pandemic, and he oversaw the third-biggest deficit increase of any president.

People are calling today the 30th birthday of the web; more accurately it’s the 30th birthday of CERN releasing the source code. I vividly remember websites being a curiosity among FTP servers, Usenet newsgroups, and gopher holes.

Here’s to this marvelous technology, Earth’s biggest Choose Your Own Adventure book, one of the most backwardly compatible systems ever built. Modern browsers may be elaborate interpreter-compilers but they still render the first site: http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html
