@lahosken so if I go from here: https://mastodon.social/settings/migration , and I just input my new profile name, it says "is not an alias of this account"
I never saw instructions for how to make my new account an alias of my old one.
@lahosken Thanks for answering!! using this link: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/moving/#redirect
Moving or leaving accounts - Mastodon documentation

Take your information and do what you want with it.

To be clear, most safety features newcomers have asked for have been requested for several years and have been refused by the people building the most visible platforms, i.e., Mastodon, Pixelfed, Pleroma, Peer Tube, etc.

There is a long history of not only outright refusal but demonizing requests to implement basic features to help communities manage their safety.

People new to the fedi are right to question the lack of features around safety and moderation because it is an obvious weakness in the software.

And I can say with 100% confidence those oversights are intentional. These concerns have been raised multiple times, and they have been disregarded repeatedly.
Hey evangelical tech anarchists! Who can actually walk me through migrating my account, with follows and followers, to a new instance? I already created the new account, and the instructions on the most common how-to link going around don’t work for me.

Woke up to bootleggers all over my replies last night. A reminder that I sell my merch on http://effinbirds.com and not Viralstyle or TeeChip or those other garbage sites.

Use the code FUCKBOOTLEGGERS to save a few bucks.

Elon Musk is so racist he only bans Black nazis.
And my little misnagdic heart thinks, what would I be trying to prove by calling myself “religious.” That’s between me and Gd. Better to round down when I’m talking to other people (unless, of course, I’m asking for a kosher meal or time off work at the High Holy Days)
Also see: why I’m leaning towards self defining as a “cultural Jew” (I observe many observances, but I don’t do it for G-d, I do it for the culture).
Last ReToot: that’s also why I call myself a “cartoonist” instead of a “graphic novelist” whenever I can get away with it. There’s a joy in not being respectable. See also: being bisexual.
There's a lot of freedom in a job description that doesn't also serve as a value judgement the way words like "artist" (or, it seems, "writer") sometimes do. There's no whiff of pretense to it. Hell, for much of the last century "illustrator" was a term of derision in the fine art world. And back when my teachers were in their prime, "comic book artist" was roughly synonymous with "pornographer."
