A turning point in my youth was when I tried to get some friends together to go to a Gerling gig and nobody was interested. But then I realised I could just ... go see them by myself.
And I had a great night and got two phone numbers from two different ladies (beating my previous record of zero).
@shlee
I voted for two Gerling songs, just in case it helped them get on the list.
I once read the perfect description of Gerling as being "like that really smart kid at school who everyone thought would go far but who never quite got their shit together."

I had a similar experience myself a few weeks ago where my phone "updated" and now the camera doesn't work.
I hope you can get it working again and/or find something whimsical to take your mind off it (I'm trying, but it's hard (-: ).
My Android phone just performed a forced, unauthorized OS update, removing root access in the process. Despite automatic updates being explicitly disabled. The tech industry's understanding of "consent" is contemptuous. "No" means "no", not "maybe later", or "unless you think you know better".

(I haven't read the article yet but...)
Could it be possible that American consumers actively avoid US-made products? eg Could there be a perception that Asian manufacturers just know what they're doing in a more reliable way? Could US-made now be perceived as a bespoke cottage industry, with "real manufacturing" now perceived as happening offshore?
I guess a test where the prices were the same would answer that. With enough testing it would even be possible to estimate the price point where US consumers do switch to US-made (whichever side of "equal" that lies).
Weird fact: The director that made the seminal Australian new-wave psychological thriller "Wake in Fright" (1971) is the same director who made the American screwball comedy "Weekend at Bernie's" (1989).
