I have a lot of fond memories of this game in the beginning, in the early days of
#VR, but it's just too much stress now to be worth it.
It makes me so sad to have to stop playing Rec Room permanently. Lots of online games have toxic communities, but for whatever reason, Rec Room appears to be attracting an extreme amount of vileness. Like it feels like it's an organized campaign of harassment against POC and the
#LGBT community, and the game doesn't give room hosts and mods the tools to deal with the issue at the scale that it's at (example: world mods have a limited number of room kicks they can do in a given time period).
In the early days of the game industry, companies wrote games in assembly while creating their own game engines and all the tools, targeting severely limited hardware, and no possibility of microtransactions, DLCs, loot boxes, or live services. Yet here we are in 2025 with all of those things and it's too expensive to make video games? Something fishy there
Pretty sure this is just "frog boiling" by studios as a prelude to saying "So you see we can't make games without AI now, it's too expensive otherwise"
Could y'all do me a favor and if you find me on other services using my other name (if you know you know), please don't acknowledge we're the same person. I'm way more myself on this account than other places and for my own mental health I try not to cross the streams 😅 I can moderate my stream pretty well here, but I can't there.
4) "Oh, you know, those conservative voters are really going to regret their vote when prices go up, FAFO amirite?" - not even fucking close. These voters already FA and FO and went back and voted for him again. They will be lied to again, and they will believe the lies. We win them back by telling the truth, repeatedly, earnestly, with fucking conviction. Only then can we redirect that anger where it belongs.
3) "We need to be less confrontational to win" - no, sorry, half-hearted wishy washy language isn't going to fucking cut it anymore. You pull out that that sanitized BS double-speak, voters will assume you're a bought and paid for corpo sock puppet. Orange-otang-man talks like he doesn't give a shit and people believe whatever bat-shit crazy vomit comes out of his mouth. Tell the truth, but tell it like you fucking mean it, and you'll win SOME of these people back
2) "we need to focus on the economy and less on women/LGBTQ rights" - wtf is the point of winning if we nominate republicans? Rather than shift right, we need to shout from the rooftops that GOP economic policies suck for the 95%, and we need to call them out repeatedly for scapegoating to distract them from the fact that they are ROBBING Americans of their future and their children's future to funnel money to their billionaire donors
There are a number of things you will hear on repeat for the next four years from left-wing traditional and social media that are all complete BS:
1) "It's the progressives fault" - no, we've had neoliberal/moderate candidates for three elections now, lost two and barely won a third against the least popular GOP candidate in history. The corpo-dems need to stand aside and let a progressive lead the ticket now.
Just published a new github repo with my current sandbox/study/sample project for the
#Stride3D engine. I'll be expanding it a bit with some other sandbox projects I have locally that need to be cleaned up first. Project is open source, MIT:
