Too wound up to go to bed, so I just sent lots of emails to people hoping that they'll spread the word and get lots more people to write comments to the FCC telling them that orbital data centres and sunlight-as-a-service are incredibly stupid, dangerous ideas and should never be launched.

I don't think it'll actually make a big difference. But I do think it's incredibly important that the official record shows how many opposed this.

Hello my friends,

Whether it's too late, too early, or just right, I wish you all a fantastic and, above all, healthy 2026, regardless of time zone.

And most importantly – stay punk! 👊❤️

Cheers 🥂

"Plum Blossoms," Jin Nong, 1757.

Jin Nong (1687-c.1763) was a noted calligrapher and painter of China's Qing Dynasty. Not much about his early life is known; he only came to prominence in his late 50s, when as a childless widower he produced a series of nonconformist works.

While a lot of his work was very traditional, he loaded it with symbolism, and he preferred to sell his work in the open market, rather than having a private patron, which was the usual course of action for painters of the era.

Also a writer, poet, art critic and art dealer, Jin was listed as one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, a group of painters who rejected orthodox ideas of art while producing highly individualistic and expressive works.

Spammer just called me and I stayed on with him longer than anyone I've spoken to.

He wanted to sell me life insurance and after being transferred to three people, I explained that I might be interested, but I didn't think I needed it because two years ago I met this man who bit me and said that if I drank the blood of the innocent, I would be granted eternal life and that I've been doing it and feel better than I have in years.

Then he hung up. :(

As they should be.

Writing research question for the Sci Fi book I'm writing:
I need slang terms for computer malware that are based on languages other than English (like "worm" or "virus" are) or stories other than Greek mythology ( like "trojan" is). This is a far future deep-space community, but they originally came from Earth.

For example I thought of tsetse because of the African sleeping sickness that's transmitted by a fly.

Any ideas? Words for parasites, traps, nested dolls, hidden things, etc, in other cultures?
