Working on Avalonia UI

I was chatting with a colleague this morning about our GitHub donations (for @avaloniaui)

If each user donated $1 a month, we could expand our team from 11 to 70+ developers, funded entirely by donations 🤯

Imagine what we could achieve with that kind of engineering power!

@Migueldeicaza @paulmcaleer My Audi Q3 has ChatGPT, though I don’t know when it started supporting it.

It has come in useful to get a conclusive answer when disagreeing with the wife.

It’s also fun to have it read poems about traffic jams and bad Italian drivers.

But it really is a pointless feature.

@mikegoatly @avaloniaui @shemjm the ecosystem is slowly growing and I know of other control manufacturers exploring building natively.

XPF is a good stop gap, and from a commercial perspective, it’s good for vendors and it’s good for us.

@mihamarkic it’s very normal for enterprise sales.
@mikecodesdotnet @avaloniaui I would buy even @avaloniaui t-shirt 😉 Still have Microsoft build Prage t-shirt from 2015 😀 C# shirt would be very good to have, so if you plan to do one please let know! 🙏
@jan @avaloniaui im pretty sure that we’d run into trademark issues if sell clothing, but we can absolutely do some swag for a handful of contributors.

I think my wife had hidden this beautiful T-shirt, but today I found it!

It is very tempting to get some limited edition @avaloniaui versions made.

@khalidabuhakmeh @jumar This is something I’ve discussed with James Montemagno. Ideally, we’d expand the MAUI.Essentials to avoid fragmenting the ecosystem, but we support a broader range of platforms.

There isn’t an easy answer, as I think the best developer experience will come from rolling out our own solution or having the community pick up this work.

@khalidabuhakmeh you should add a EventTriggerBehavior for the KeyDown event as well. That should stop the beeping 🙏
@khalidabuhakmeh I’ll clone the app and check what’s going on.
