Working on Avalonia UI

I was chatting with a colleague this morning about our GitHub donations (for @avaloniaui)

If each user donated $1 a month, we could expand our team from 11 to 70+ developers, funded entirely by donations 🀯

Imagine what we could achieve with that kind of engineering power!

@mikecodesdotnet @avaloniaui I would buy even @avaloniaui t-shirt πŸ˜‰ Still have Microsoft build Prage t-shirt from 2015 πŸ˜€ C# shirt would be very good to have, so if you plan to do one please let know! πŸ™

I think my wife had hidden this beautiful T-shirt, but today I found it!

It is very tempting to get some limited edition @avaloniaui versions made.

Running WpfMdi on macOS with the Luna theme using @avaloniaui XPF πŸ™ˆ

It works, but I think the theme might need updating.

Currently writing a blog post about the differences between @avaloniaui and MAUI. Any MAUI experts fancy giving it a review?

The aim of the post is to show why both Avalonia and MAUI are great and why you might pick one over the other. I want it to be as unbiased as possible.

We've spoken to several companies with WinUI projects that want to migrate to @avaloniaui. That's somewhat surprising!

They've typically explored the options to go cross-platform and decided a rewrite is the best approach. πŸ’€

I’ve done the impossibile, I’ve got the team excited about docs!

Our aim for 2023 is to have the best documentation of any .NET UI framework πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

I just spoke with someone who is building embedded apps using @avaloniaui. They said some incredibly nice things.

"Thanks to Avalonia UI, we can compete with companies with hundreds of employees."

"Avalonia is better than Qt and C++ for embedded development."

Hearing of University students being taught #WPF!

Students are requesting access to XPF to do coursework on their macOS and Linux boxes.

I can’t help but feel that maybe the universities should be teaching @avaloniaui instead. I’d gladly sponsor the creation of teaching materials if any professors need it.

#dotnet

I remember starting work at Xamarin with a passion for enabling C# developers to build better apps.

Microsoft is seemingly keen to retire the Xamarin brand, but my mission remains. How can I help .NET developers build better apps for every platform.

Everything we do at @avaloniaui is working towards the goal of creating the best developer experience for cross-platform app dev with #dotnet
