OpenHamClock (https://openhamclock.com) tracking grayline conditions for KP5/NP3VI Desecheo Island DXpedition.
Finally heard KP5/NP3VI Desecheo Island DXpedition at my station OG7J via grayline propagation on 10m SSB. Had to wait for the right time for a QSO: they use very low TX power (20-30W?).
Running https://webradiocontrol.tech/ for remote and https://openhamclock.com/ to track conditions (an excellent, modern "spin-off" of HamClock).

-26C 🥶 with a beautiful sunrise at amateur radio club OH3AA today.
After maybe a year of procrastination 😅, I finally installed a dew heater in my #allsky camera -> ice and snow are finally gone and the photos are super clear. 👌
Now waiting for aurora!
The heater is from dewcontrol.com, driven by a #RaspberryPi GPIO + an opto-isolated relay. The indi-allsky software cleverly tracks dew point using I²C environmental sensor readings.

New year, new laptop! The #HP #ZBook Ultra G1a, based on AMD Strix Halo line of Ryzen AI CPUs, really shines with its 200+ GB/s memory bandwidth - where the Intel Core Ultra 9 mobile CPUs (2ch) only do ~100 GB/s. 128GB of quad-channel LPDDR5x-8533 FTW!
Also, I really like the new Linux Mint 22.3: the Cinnamon desktop looks great and hardware support for this particular ZBook is perfect!

The yearly cost of radio amateur license in Finland is going to almost double beginning of 2026.
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency #Traficom increases their basic frequency fee and due to this radio amateur license will cost 35€ per year instead of old 18€ per year.
This cost increase is for every callsign in use so especially clubs running multiple repeaters, APRS and other automatic sites will take a big hit on their budget.

Service fees charged by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom will increase as of 1 January 2026. The increases will apply, for example, to consumer service fees and supervision fees charged to organisations. Fee increases will mainly range from approximately 10 to 20 per cent. Prices will increase in the areas of aviation, maritime, road and rail transport, as well as for domain name and frequency fees.
