Happy Space Science Saturday! Did you know that February’s Full Moon is known as the Snow Moon? The name is tied directly to winter weather. In the 1760s, explorer Jonathan Carver, after visiting with the Naudowessie (Dakota), documented that they called it the Snow Moon because snowfall is typically at its heaviest during this part of winter.

After maybe a year of procrastination 😅, I finally installed a dew heater in my #allsky camera -> ice and snow are finally gone and the photos are super clear. 👌

Now waiting for aurora!

The heater is from dewcontrol.com, driven by a #RaspberryPi GPIO + an opto-isolated relay. The indi-allsky software cleverly tracks dew point using I²C environmental sensor readings.
