#SOTA summits № 625-626/1000 today: Tschipparällehore 2398 m (https://sotl.as/summits/HB/BE-129) and Honiese 2454 m (https://sotl.as/summits/HB/BE-082) via the infamous Niesengrat ridge, with two or three spicy sections. It was hot today, felt like July or August already! And lots of Canadian wildfire smoke in the air. 66 QSOs made on 40/30/20/2m.

The "OHFF Park Rally" took place last weekend. I activated OHFF-1004, a beautiful island QTH just outside of Turku in southwest Finland. Thanks to Kimmo OH1CM for enabling the required boat trip.

Tammo island is uninhabited and magical. Lush green vegetation, a fox and deer greeting me upon arrival, and birds singing enthusiastically (ramp up the volume on the video!) as background to the band audio. Enjoyable.

About 220Qs made around OH and Europe on 80/40/30/20m CW/SSB. Tnx!

#SOTA summit № 624/1000 today: Rienzenstock (https://sotl.as/summits/HB/UR-037) with @navigium. First activation! Summit book from 1986 with fewer than two entries per year on average. The snow was already very soft and the slopes very steep (≥45°), so we couldn't spend a lot of time on the activation unfortunately.

@OH3CUF Solar maximum was vastly oversold, to be sure. It has not lived up to the hype whatsoever.

My anticipation and hope is that it will be good on the downslope heading towards minimum, for some time - that should, in my estimation, be a period of greater stability, or at least less violent outbursts. It's also a decent amount of time - we have quite a while to go before true minimums.

Well, I'm now two summers deep into this relentless solar burping and D-layer thickening — and I respectfully disagree.

Maybe the solar minimum is even worse?

Either way, I’d like to file a complaint with the universe. I want my money back :D

#SOTA summit № 623/1000 today: Morgenberghorn (https://sotl.as/summits/HB/BE-097). Ascent via the nice, exposed NE ridge (T6-), descent via the marked hiking trail to the south. 63 QSOs, bands playing along today!

ParkRally finland, Activators weekend

Again this year, we decided to go to Hämeenkangas area for overnight. This time we also activated one park on our way.
It was ”hit and run” type, which we worked quite fast. I set the radio and battery, @OH3CUF set the linked dipole. A bit over 50 qsos around 30 mins and off we go again to Hämeenkangas.

We worked this same time passing mic after qso. Worked well, but maybe three stations didn’t listen. So Jouni was a lucky one to get 3 qsos more than me.
