The mightiest orbot of them all. #Transformers, #DogsOfMastodon and assorted geekery.

I occasionally boost political content, but I try to CW all my own political posts. Please hide my boosts or filter out “uspol” if you don’t want to see any of that stuff.

First six cups of 2025 #serviceberries are rinsed, bagged and in the freezer. (Last year was a bumper crop, so we’re still working through 2024’s harvest!)

We probably snacked on another full cup on and off last night, and by “we” I mean me and my dog Kira.

#Transformers Star Convoy (sorry, I’m sticking with that name) looks and feels more like one of those giant playsets that Walmart sells for $50 every Christmas than it does a Titan Class figure. That’s not entirely Hasbro’s fault, though—the figure feels hollow because it is, with the robot legs unfolding into huge open bays in base mode.

He’s got good articulation in robot mode, with ratchets in the elbows and knees as well as the hips and shoulders. His accessory vehicles can store inside the hollow chest and legs. I didn’t photograph the blast effects, but he comes with lots for those who like them.

Base mode is interestingly asymmetrical and even comes with some Siege-compatible A.I.R.Lock ramps. Vehicle mode is a solid brute of a truck with no articulation between the cab and trailer.

Overall, Star Convoy is faithful to the original toy but is probably only a must-buy for completionists (like me!).

Right, let’s get this party started. #Transformers

#Serviceberries are ready! (Photo hastily taken on my morning dog walk.)

AKA juneberries, these tasty little guys are native to my part of the U.S., but they’re often planted as ornamental trees. When I moved here, I was pleasantly surprised to learn the fruit is edible!

They’re ripe when they turn dark purple, and they taste a bit like Concord grapes. Texture seems to vary depending on how much water they get; my local berries seem a bit “meatier” with bigger seeds than last year. We use them in baking as an equivalent for blueberries, or just for snacking (my dog loves them, too).

There are four bushes/trees near the train station I pass on our dog walk, and two more in the local park. Every year now, I pick as many as I can as they ripen and freeze what we don’t eat right away. And honestly, I can’t believe I’m still the only person doing it.

Choo choo motherfuckers.

#transformers #steampunk

#Steampunk #Transformers just got delivered, and the packaging is just *chef’s kiss*

Edit: added a photo because I didn’t realize Starscream was supposed to have a hat in this incarnation.

Ah, yes, the #ADHD phenomenon of not being able to sleep until the unsolved problems from work have all been solved. That one I know well.

Public questioning of politicians is the right of all sentient beings.

I love the ideas for Micronus Prime — He’s a minicon with a mech suit! The suit turns into a monowheel! The minicon turns into his own badge symbol! I want a whole rainbow set of this guy now!

Edit: And he’s a Weaponizer! The arms and legs detach to become weapons and a shield for other bots.

#transformers

I always liked the Omnibots’ triple-changing armed vehicle modes, even if they’re not too graceful. Downshift achieved this by dropping his doors to reveal missile launchers and popping his pistol up out of his moon roof.

Yaguchi has a nice weighty feel from all the die-cast and rubber tires to complete the #Transformers Masterpiece feel. It’s a good 1980s car, but IMO he’s the least attractive of the three Omnibots.

@mighty_orbot they're nearly there here. I love them.
Wish mine would fruit! I haven’t even seen flowers.

I planted a couple of these a few years ago but I have yet to get a berry. The squirrels and deer beat me to them!

@mattmaison Fortunately, the trees I pick from are about ten feet tall and are therefore deerproof.
