Ok #Fediverse: if I was keen to bootstrap an Aotearoa-based tech services #cooperative, what coop models would people suggest I look at - looking for good descriptions of how they'd be set up, especially to recognise the contributions of those involved. All insights appreciated! I'd rather learn from others' experiences rather than unwittingly replicating their mistakes trying to reinvent the wheel...

Dear @creativecommons ,

I read your article about your initiative for new licenses for dataset holders in the AI industry.

Let’s be clear: I do not want to re-license my hundreds of CC-By comic pages to please AI giants.

I wish you would support CC artists suffering from massive plagiarism. You should enforce your own existing licenses against AI mass crawling. It seems you’ve joined the battle only after the casualties and still managed to side with the wrong people.

Some so-called leftists, told me & my crew of 6 that we will fail & we are fucked for going out in vans/trucks/on foot in midst of winter blizzards to check up on homeless folks & provide them with extra coats, socks, gloves, blankets, hot foods & drinks. We ran our frontlines grassroots delivery of essential needs to peoples that society deemed unworthy. Every single human is worth trying to help out!!

@jensorensen

Kind of related to treating everyone as a terrorist.

One week a guy rear-ended an ICE vehicle, he says accidentally, ICE says on purpose.

ICE retaliated by blowing up his front door.

Is wel zo....

On June 28, 1969, police raided the #StonewallInn, a New York City bar that welcomed the most marginalized members of the fledgling queer "community": young, poor, and #BIPOC #LGBTQ+ people.

Fed up with being on the receiving end of state violence, drag performers, trans and gender nonconforming people, homeless youth, and queer people of color fought back.

The scuffle became a weeklong riot and marked a pivotal turning point in the movement for LGBTQ+ rights in the United States.

@CaptainFlab

I'd like to point out that it was an actual riot. Heads were getting knocked in on both sides.

Power is never ceded voluntarily, it is only taken.

And rage against injustice is universal. The ability to strike back is not.

If you can, strike now. The country is at an inflection point. We need ya. Don't kill anybody. That's counterproductive.

Go make some good trouble. Raise some hell.

@Uair @CaptainFlab That night in NYC was hot as Hell, 90s and muggy. And Judy Garland had died just a week before, and she was like that era's Madonna or Lady Gaga, so queers were still mourning and were not in the mood to take any shit. I don't know how much difference that made for the riot happening, but it's a bit of context that usually gets missed.

@joshsusser

Thanks for sharing.

I did not know.
