Trans IT worker, mainly in the healthcare field.
PronounsShe/Her

@tante I tried to explain to a boss of mine wanting us to vibe code that it can possibly make what he asks for but not in the best way.

That as I’m architecting and building I might actually think of different things that would be better than the original design and something that can be extended more easily.

He still didn’t get it and said the AI was faster anyway. Then he spent an hour sharing his screen and arguing with AI about why it kept messing up what he was wanting it to code

> The use of AI Coding Assistants in software development is as of now widely regarded as industry best practice

That is exactly why software development as an industry is such a shit show and explicitly not engineering.

@RickiTarr The other day, I ACTUALLY saw someone say

"The trans people were telling us this would all happen and we didn't listen. And they were right."

And I almost pissed myself. I could not BELIEVE someone said it out loud. 👀👀

whoops! turns out the unit economics on “tokens” won’t be profitable or sensible for anyone involved unless we just let the technology mature and progress normally for about 50 years. unfortunately we just steered everything that would drive that normal progress into a cartoon brick wall
Overheard: “I feel more pressure to use AI as an adult than to do drugs as a teenager.”

Two gender-related #FediTips:

1. The first time you interact with someone or say something about their post, it's worth checking their profile to see if they've shared their pronouns. I've seen a slew of misgenderings of trans and enby people in replies recently, all of which were preventable.

2. If you are comfortable revealing this about yourself, it's a great idea to share your own pronouns in your bio, ESPECIALLY if you feel like you don't "need" to. Normalize sharing pronouns!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
Chin up, tits out, don’t let the bastards wear you down

@JessTheUnstill I’m being forced to use AI at work for some code. I always have to fix things or change references for methods that don’t exist.

It always feels like it would’ve been easier to just let me make what I need without it.

Your entire ruling class would struggle to successfully conduct an opening shift at a 5 Guys. That's not an exaggeration - these people are crass fucking morons with zero life skills; it's why every election one of them fumbles the ball trying to eat a sandwich or navigate the self checkout at a Walmart. These are not bright people with good plans. You should stop listening to, or even respecting them.
