@martinmcwhorter yea Ruby wasn't an odd choice but it limits the maintainability - I don't know many Ruby Devs.

Although I don't know Rust either but I guess the performance and safety gains are worth porting

@martinmcwhorter I've been thinking though of the same with the API and building a small custom app (also just to play with the API and some new tech) and integrating my blog in - so maybe I write more 🀣

@martinmcwhorter so far so good - I use @mastohost $9 (I found the $6 too slow to federate but it always says that) and I had this domain (although next year it goes up to €50 🀣)

Runs fast, and I can block and purge stuff at my own convenience. Sure the local is a bit quiet but then I've set up with 4 Relays so I get a good #Fediverse feed even if it's a firehose at times.

@deadparrot I created an account back in 2017. I found our you can repoint them and it send all the followers your way. I've even been thinking of doing it again on this instance @me isn't very descriptive 🀣🀣 I hadn't realised at the time - another thing to learn.

@martinmcwhorter yep I just use my instance URL as the PWA and it's perfectly fine. Also it'll get new 4.0 features soon

@mattedgar I have to turn off Daylight Savings in the settings of my Nissan to get the correct time, and turn it on again in 6 months
