The `left-pad` incident was 10 years ago today.

Thankfully, we've completely solved software supply chains in the years since.

Decided to launch a daily Silicon Valley TV show quote of the day. Today’s selection for absolutely no particular reason:

“Well, that’s the thing about the NDA, is that the NDA is actually covered under the NDA. So if I told you about the NDA, it would’ve been a violation of the NDA.”

Weiss and Cibrowski announce they’re shutting down CBS News Radio, which has ~700 affiliated stations, on May 22. "Unfortunately, this decision means that all positions within the CBS News Radio team are being eliminated.”

Thus, the CBS Radio Network (b. 1927) will be terminated at the age of 99.

CBS Radio was the foundation of American broadcast journalism. Over five decades I filed hundreds of news reports for it and felt immense pride to have been on the same network as Murrow, Sevareid, Smith, Collingwood, Cronkite, Edwards, Trout, Townsend, Kuralt, Rather, Stahl, Knoller & Portnoy.

Well, if yesterday's map was ridiculous, I'm running out of superlatives to characterize today's. Countless locations from Pacific Coast to Great Plains are currently experiencing all-time record March warmth, w/ some locations approaching/exceeding April (or even May) records.

Touching grass is good…but have you tried touching rocks?

Stoked to get back behind the wheel of a geology field studies van soon and be renewed by the tectonic power of collegiate scientists just getting started on their journeys.

Five years ago today, after listening to some negative discussion on @atpfm, someone on Twitter angrily predicted that “in 5 years, Tesla will have a marketcap at least 5 times larger than Apple.” I made a calendar event for this prediction, because I am petty. But now the account that posted it has deleted all its tweets, ruining the fun.

Nvidia revealed DLSS 5 at GTC, with AI upscaling that can adjust a game’s lighting and materials frame by frame, and maybe adjusts them too much.

Pro-tip to any devs who only discovered TDD thanks to coding agents: refactoring is inherently directional. It's more like prefactoring—you rearrange code to make the next change easy. That means you (and your agent) should know the next planned change before you refactor!

This is a great essay full of nostalgia and I can’t help but think about my own adventures in computing when I read it.
