"I know this doesn't help, but we have exquisite 3D laser maps of every detail of Notre Dame, thanks to the incredible work of @Vassar art historian Andrew Tallon. Prof Tallon passed away last November, but his work will be absolutely crucial"

why don't poor people just buy more money?

#scifi often thinks about what makes aliens unique while treating humans as "normal". It's at least as interesting to think about what might make humans unique in an alien context and make for fun storytelling.

E.g. maybe the patience to catalog data in extreme detail is unique to humans. This gives us certain benefits (ability to deduce structure/laws from observation of phenomena over time) as well as oddities (obsessive decades-long analysis of TV shows that lasted a single season).

I'm an adult and that means I get to eat water chestnuts straight out of the can if I want to, dammit

I'm sitting in a bar with about 45 different sports broadcasts all doing at once.

If aliens ever receive television broadcasts, they'll probably conclude that humans hate spheres. We're constantly throwing spheres away from ourselves, hitting them with sticks, or otherwise knocking them away.

If we get invaded, it will be in the form of a giant sphere.
