@mcnutt I didn't think too hard about the 30sec video so I made mine for UIST in under an hour. Didn't realize they would post it on their youtube channel https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vqOtS-AeLbE 😂 and it's also linked in the official ACM publication page. So now this is what people see as the paper's promotion---I thought that was kind of embarrassing. Hoping you are right that a narrative, playful style is valid

How do you choose (continuous) colormaps for visualization? Let's assume 0 <= domain <= +inf, where lower is not necessarily 'good' or 'bad' (e.g. elevation data)

@briromer Seems like the hierarchy is dynamic? Either you're trying to create a static image out of something dynamic, or they're asking you to diagram a non-existent hierarchy.

Org charts only exist to reinforce existing hierarchies. That's not a flaw, that's its function! People have to know who to report to and ask questions to. If there is no hierarchy, don't make an org chart. But if you need to make an org chart for a dynamic hierarchy, make it dynamic/interactive, or it will be useless.
