This time it's not my work - but someone implementing one of *my* feature requests!

When I worked on porting GIMP to the v2 MyPaint Brush API, I didn't implement the optional Spectral Blending feature. If turned on, the blending mimicks "real world" pigment mixing - so for instance, painting yellow on blue creates a green color around the edges instead of grey-ish yellow.

I posted a feature request, and a new contributor took me up on it. See the video for a quick demo of how it works!

I'd been planning to add import support for   Krita's KPL palettes for a while, ever since we added export support in GIMP 3.2.

I finally did it, and it turned out to be very similar to our Swatchbooker code (both formats are zipped XML files). Hopefully this'll make it easier for people who use both programs to share settings in-between them!

I just pushed the support for the rotation of the new #Wacom Art Pen 2 🖌️ in #GIMP. This will be available in @GIMP 3.4.

Maybe I will even decide to back port this feature to a 3.2 micro release so that artists 👨‍🎨 with such hardware won't have to wait for months. 🤷

Thanks to Wacom for sponsoring the styli.

Releasing Barcoder 0.5.0

Finally a release, which I think could be truly useful to people out there. This time you can have a vector image as output.

Sounds like a small thing, right? But remember when you for the last time tried to resize a QR code onto a document you've made and it was all blurry and ugly. NOT WITH this app!

So if you work in a field, where you need barcodes or eventually QR codes grab it from Flathub...

Early work on porting @gwidion 's 2006 patch for "free angle" guides to GIMP 3's API. A lot has changed in the code since then!

From @zemarmot 's speech at @adullact, a conference for local French authorities on the usage of free and open source software.

(My limited French plus a dictionary is *just* enough to understand the slide and post)

Are you using Vala? Are you *not* using Vala?

What is #Vala missing to be your favorite programming language? What could we improve to make it more suitable for your use cases?

Let us know over at https://discourse.gnome.org/t/what-is-vala-missing-to-be-your-favorite-language/35239

What is Vala missing to be your favorite language?

Hi all, so, I’ve been asking variations of this in Vala-specific channels, but I’m also very interested in feedback from people who don’t use Vala for their apps. If you’re using Vala, what improvements would you like to see? What would make Vala so much better for you? If you’re not using Vala, presumably you found that a different language suits your use case better. Why is that? How could we improve Vala so it’s also very suitable for your use case? What is Vala missing to be your go-to lan...

The workflow i use might be interesting -
scan with xsane on Linux at 16 bits per channel/2400dpi (professional scanner). Usually greyscale though.

Then to #GIMP and clean up then resize for Alamy stock & for Web.

Wonder if there’d be interest in videos about the clean-up process?

In latest news in development code for the next minor point version (future #GIMP 3.4): gradients can now be applied non-destructively (i.e. as filters which can later be edited or even removed).
