Walking around one of those classic American downtowns that was brought back from the brink by a small, visionary group of people including my grandfather is a gift that no financial inheritance can compete with: the gift of hope that things can change, but only with hard work, acceptance of people different from you, and an unwillingness to give up. The trek to Arkansas is a pain but I’m very thankful for a family member who lays a path that guides me and makes me not feel so lonely.
15.3% of Milwaukee County roads in about one year. 2024 is my year for southside riding since it’s where I’m weakest for coverage.
New bike day!!! My ebike battery was stolen off the bike that I had converted with the Swytch kit, and I was ready for an upgrade anyway. A friend is buying that bike and getting a new battery, while I upgraded to the cargo life. The Aventon is a pleasant as hell surprise for the cost. Diggin’ it.
I rode a pedal-assist only ebike to and from work. Google Maps was more than a third off in terms of time estimate, making biking extremely competitive on a time-only basis, especially considering that the parking near my apartment would likely not be immediately in front of my building, like my bike racks are (thus parking adds a few minutes of finding a spot and walking). Honestly was surprised by how off Google was.
Milwaukee did a Critical Mass 🥹🥹
I’ve been on 4 bikes today. Let’s see if Critical Mass can make it 5. 😂
The urbanism of this (checks notes) parking lot
So does anyone know why someone or some agency would do this? Is there a reason?
Smdh I am not ready to have to drive things in the new Zelda game. Give Link a cargo bike for all of his Thunderspears and apples.
Finally downloaded the Mastodon app after getting a new phone. Forgot how much healthier this place is. Obligatory photo of today’s bike ride: I picked up a commuter bike that I feel okay about locking outside, which has made it SO much easier to get riding. There is something special about the bare bones commuter bike. Nothing on it, it goes!
