The schedule for the Nix and NixOS devroom at FOSDEM 2026 is out!

https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/track/nix-and-nixos/

There will be 18 talks from 20 speakers, including 10 lightning talks. We’re particularly glad to give a platform to so many smaller community projects and experience reports, and we’re looking forward to a great community get-together!

FOSDEM 2026 - Nix and NixOS

I wrote on the Tweag Blog on a topic that's near and dear to my heart:
Making container image builds faster in Bazel.
https://www.tweag.io/blog/2025-12-18-rules_img/
Announcing rules_img: a faster path to container images in Bazel

rules_img is a Bazel ruleset for building and publishing OCI images that feel native to Bazel by treating images as metadata first and moving bytes only at the edges.

As pointed out on an irc channel, yet another example of kernel developers having to do crazy things to paper over hardware bugs: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=f076ef44a44d02ed91543f820c14c2c7dff53716

NixOS 25.11 released | Blog | Nix & NixOS

Nix is a tool that takes a unique approach to package management and system configuration. Learn how to make reproducible, declarative and reliable systems.

Very happy to give a sneak peek into the latest developments of LILA, the decentralized Nix reproducibility tool developed by @raboof and me!

We now have a ✨user friendly interface✨, where you can see reproducibility reports published by trusted rebuilders!

maybe we need a "thank the open source developer whose tools work flawlessly for you day"

Accepted! Go 1.26 will introduce per-state goroutine metrics: running, waiting, in syscalls, etc.

Developers can use them to catch problems early without needing full traces.

Go proposal: Goroutine metrics

Export goroutine-related metrics from the Go runtime.

Think Bazel is just for code? Think again.
