New research finds nearly 30% of land animals could disappear form their local area by 2100 due to climate change and habitat destruction. This is more than double previous predictions.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the enthusiasm & aims underlying the #COP15 30/30 target, but a short history lesson:
- 2010 #CBD #biodiversity targets: failed
- 2020 #Aichi targets: failed
- ongoing UN #SDG 15 goal: not even close
Ask me in 10 years if we’ve made any progress, and I’ll gladly admit the error of my pessimism
Bushbark#CaneToads are an invasive species in Australia. We take them out of the environment on a regular basis. They are ethically and humanely euthanised. Their bodies go to create a bait to remove their toadpoles from watersources.
Last nights adventure included a male Koala bellowing, Boobook Owl, geckos, FrogID recordings and frog sightings and about 90 Toads removed. Count for this property is now about 450. #biodiversity #landforwildlife

MMSWe are lucky enough to spend time in a place that, in late spring, is aglow with fireflies. They are the closest thing to magic that my children have ever experienced.
Meanwhile, a friend reports that, in Germany, window screens are no longer necessary in summer.
It breaks my heart to think that my children's children may not experience such wonder.
