A nice little find on a grass verge today. A small colony of mining bees, possibly tawny mining bees, which are relatively common in the south of the UK, but were only first recorded in Scotland in 2010.

this species makes it easy to photograph nests without disturbing the little families because they love to nest near humans, this nest is in the corner of a restaurant with a large outdoor dining section

there were 4 in the nest but all 4 were never awake at the same time! ❤️
