A nice little find on a grass verge today. A small colony of mining bees, possibly tawny mining bees, which are relatively common in the south of the UK, but were only first recorded in Scotland in 2010.

this species makes it easy to photograph nests without disturbing the little families because they love to nest near humans, this nest is in the corner of a restaurant with a large outdoor dining section

there were 4 in the nest but all 4 were never awake at the same time! ❤️

A pigeon in the alley, holding its ground like it has seen enough of the city to stop being impressed.
Black and white helps with that. It removes the decoration and leaves the terms of survival.

The Bookshop Pigeon

A pigeon had taken up residence in the Dubray Books window on St. Patrick Street, wedged comfortably between Michael Palin and a Lonely Planet guide which is frankly better taste in travel literature than most of us manage.
