Focusing on digital accessibility at a place that sends robots into space.

@aardrian @darrell73 @LFLegal the damage is already done. The tone has been set. It won't stop me from promoting accessibility and continuing to work on it in my job though.

@mattly this is great. Thank you.

Disability is a vast and varied human experience.

It's as diverse as humanity itself — spanning visible and invisible, temporary and lifelong, intersecting with every other part of our identity.

There is no single way to ‘look’ or ‘be’ disabled.

@wagtail sorry just seeing this now. It's great. I've downloaded a copy to our own internal systems but realizing I should have forked it instead so I can keep in sync with future versions.

Today a systems analyst came to me asking for a UX review for an app. I was prepared to go through my checklist, focusing on #accessibility first.

I was starting to run some automated tests when they opened up an accessibility plugin in their browser. They had been checking it since they started working on the interface with the developer.

They were asking me questions about how to do more, how to run manual tests, how to fix issues.

This is awesome progress being made.

Dario recently forced me to create an account to continue using a blood sugar monitor I already own (😡), so of course I gave my name as "Fuck Off."

This turns out to have been an amazing decision, because they inject your name into their marketing emails. 😂

@wagtail yes, please. I am a federal contractor who uses wagtail and would love to use it as an example of a vendor doing the right thing. also, i like that you are not putting it behind a customer portal or login! it is great to see a breakdown of what was improved (any "partially supports" to "supports" for example). great idea to put it on a version control platform.

it's also great that you are asking the community!

About a year ago we made a formal VPAT report for people wanting to assess the #accessibility of Wagtail: https://wagtail.github.io/accessibility/audits/vpat/ If we were to redo this in 2024, would you use it? Would you prefer something else instead?
