Nothing gives Israel a special right to invade neighbors, bulldoze their homes, and create a DMZ.

US voters must make anyone supporting the Israeli state unelectable until support for this bullshit stops.

In rural Australia in the 1940s, my mother had rocks thrown at her and was branded a 'communist' because her father, a school headmaster, advocated for establishing a public library.

In the Canadian province where I now reside, the Catholic Church controlled libraries -- and thus access to information -- until the 1960s.

We forget how recent the democratisation of knowledge is -- how transformative such institutions were and how hard-won.

We should not part with them easily.

God damn.
There just aren't any programmers left anymore, are there?
iOS is just a worthless steaming dookie.
Who knew the year of linux on the desktop would come, not from Linux getting polished, but from Microsoft and Apple both dragging themselves down into the shit.

Not "Atlassian laid off 1,600 people, 10% of its workforce"

But rather: "Atlassian leadership, with 300,000+ paying customers & ~5.2 billion USD in revenue & 6+ billion USD in assets in 2025, failed to line up their financial projections with their own staffing projections, and acted to place the burden of this gap on their direct reports rather than leadership, executive compensation packages, assets, or shareholders"

Layoffs should be personally mortifying. Boards should change.

For shame.

It's Wednesday my friends
People in Alberta, and even Ontario, provinces with conservative premiers intent on hobbling health care to pull out their magic solution of privatization, should pay attention to the death of James Van Der Beek, a well known US actor who died at the age of 48, once being worth millions. After he died, a GoFundMe was started for his family. His years of sickness cost more than his life. It drained the family's financial resources to the point at which they need help to keep paying bills.
You know you live in a tough neighborhood, when birds with an ankle monitor carry a knife.

When people say Shakespeare isn't relevant to modern life it's good to have people like Sir Ian around to prove them wrong:

So a lot of European countries want to ban social media for under-16s or under-15s. Our new government does, and I just read Spain is also considering it, and the UK as well right? Plus at least one other. It may be a good idea, I'm not sure.

But nothing's said about banning social media for over-50 men who feel that they failed in life and that that's Somebody Else's fault. And to me that is a much better idea that will improve quality of life for many more people.
