The space elevator project was funded by the world's billionaires, who were offered exclusive luxury tickets on the first ride up into space.

After the launch, the project announced a second funding round, to start looking into the feasibility and advisability of installing a "down" button.

Somehow I found myself writing a blog post about why nerds should try knitting: https://journal.stuffwithstuff.com/2025/05/30/consider-knitting/

I've been chipping away at a new project: remaking a sentimental 50-year-old quilt. It's in rough shape, to put it mildly. Left pic is where I started. Right pic is after 4 rounds of gentle hand-washing + painstakingly picking stitches to take it apart + removing rotted batting. Next up: removing some ripped rows at the bottom, and salvaging squares to patch holes elsewhere. #sewing

"3D Greenhouse" by Cheryl McKinnon from Cross Stitcher Magazine (Sep 2021)

This is such a cool little #crossstitch project I started to give myself a break from Celtic Winter. The original had this stitched on aida and backed with cardboard, but I saw someone else do theirs on clear plastic canvas so they could put an LED light inside! I just knew I had to try that so here we are 😁

Super stoked to finally be able to share this! It’s an LED #crochet hat that I made for the maker gift exchange this year! This came out so freakin well that I’m making more and am developing a plug-and-play system/kit so that yarnies without electronics experience will be able to easily add LEDs to their projects. 🧡

Finished chaos sweater!

I needed something portable to work on this past week, so I decided to crochet a hat. As usual, I winged the gauge and messed up the math, so it came out too short, but nothing that picking up stitches and knitting for a few centimeters couldn't fix.

All that gift-sewing wasn't my last crafty hurrah of 2024 - the "fade" stashbuster sweater I started in September was. My (perfect) New Year's Eve was just me, sports on TV, and two attempts at a collar. (It always takes me two tries, I stink at picking up stitches.) Love the end result. Am now officially obsessed with turning my random single skeins into sweaters.

At some point, I decided to also fill the pouches/bags. While most of the fillers are purchased knitting notions and candy, I did make some: decoupaged fabric ornaments, Corgi stitch markers, tiny quilt magnets, and a crocheted tape measure cover.

Have to say the ornaments were the most fun. Very messy, appealed to my inner kid. πŸ˜†

"Project 5," a basket with interior pockets, was actually the second thing I made - deemed it too sloppy to give as a gift - but decided yesterday that I was being too hard on myself. I mean, who's gonna see sewing mistakes with all that chocolate in the way?
