I've been enjoying Kevin Kolbe's videos about video production and was so inspired by the straightforwardness of his web site that I went and redesigned https://lostmapper.com/.

Let me know what you think!

Wandering in the world of map-making, cartography and GIS

For #30DayMapChallenge "20 - Outside" I'm posting the first public map I ever made - Graham Hills Park in Mount Pleasant, NY.

This is from about 15 years ago when I first got into mountain biking and wanted to help out my local MTB group and parks department.

This was done using Adobe Illustrator by copying in Google Maps screenshots, Garmin GPX downloads, manually aligning things and painstakingly tracing contour lines.

One day I'd like to recreate this using #QGIS.

Here's where I'm at in trying to achieve YouTube's first monetization goal.

Getting to 500 subscribers seems doable, but the 3,000 watch hours seems incredibly far away.

I have to wonder if putting teasers on YouTube and linking to content on Patreon would serve me better.

Or perhaps my content is not helpful/compelling enough to be earning me money?

It took some effort to find them, but there daily ARM builds of #Ubuntu 22 that you can run on M1 Macs via UTM.

Not sure if being on ARM will cause compilation challenges for #QGIS, though.

OMG, literally seconds after writing that I noticed I had "Fractional Scaling" turned on even though I'm not using a fractional scale. Once I turned that off my fonts were sharp again. 🤦‍♂️

I was surprised that the "Execute SQL" dialog in #QGIS doesn't allow you to adjust the size of the query section so you can see more results, so I was curious if I could throw a splitter in there. Success!

Now to do some clean up, make a PR and learn if the QGIS team actually wants this change.

The main win is that I've got a working QGIS development environment going in #Ubuntu.

My amazing custom build of QGIS on #Ubuntu!
