@rwitherspoon I've felt this for every app I've ever worked on, both personally and professionally lmao.

The App Lottery
:(
@marinaepelman Yeah, I think being fortunate enough to get closure from my manager that it wasn’t performance based made a huge difference. It just sucks that its likely to be the first of many during my career, given current industry trends :(

I'm planning on taking a few weeks to recharge before I start looking for something, but I figured I'd share what I'll be looking for, on the off chance someone is currently hiring for a perfect match:

What I'm looking for:

Work as a Mobile Application Software Engineer (I have experience working on apps for both iOS and Android). I also have a preference for roles that are remote or in the Chicagoland area (*but* I’m also open to other locations as well if the role seems like a good fit)

Last week, I experienced an unfortunate first in my career when I learned I was included in a round of layoffs 😒

It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, but I'm really grateful that I got to work with some incredible people, and had an opportunity to grow so much as an engineer during my first year out of college.

The MacBook Neo is such an interesting machine that it coaxed a thousand-word-essay out of me: https://samhenri.gold/blog/20260312-this-is-not-the-computer-for-you/
