In 2015, before The Late Show with Stephen Colbert started, they did two weeks of test shows. Everything — the writing, the production, the guests, the studio audience — was “for real,” except the episodes didn’t air.

I was lucky enough to get a ticket to one of those. The staff said, “please talk about how excited you are, just don’t share any details about the show itself and the renovation of the theater — we want the world to see it for the first time on the first episode.” (1/2)
