I'm planning on taking a few weeks to recharge before I start looking for something, but I figured I'd share what I'll be looking for, on the off chance someone is currently hiring for a perfect match:

What I'm looking for:

Work as a Mobile Application Software Engineer (I have experience working on apps for both iOS and Android). I also have a preference for roles that are remote or in the Chicagoland area (*but* I’m also open to other locations as well if the role seems like a good fit)

Last week, I experienced an unfortunate first in my career when I learned I was included in a round of layoffs 😢

It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, but I'm really grateful that I got to work with some incredible people, and had an opportunity to grow so much as an engineer during my first year out of college.

The MacBook Neo is such an interesting machine that it coaxed a thousand-word-essay out of me: https://samhenri.gold/blog/20260312-this-is-not-the-computer-for-you/

📣 Speaker Announcement

We're thrilled to welcome Ben Rosen 🎉

Ben will show how SongShift went from cooking everything on-device to running a fully serverless Swift backend in the cloud ☁️

From Food Truck to Deep-Dish Kitchen 🍕

Me: This is complicated asynchronous Swift code that I've been staring at for hours, theres no way Claude is going to figure it out....

Claude (after thinking for less than a second): Heres 3 issues I found

They were all stupid things that I kept missing because I was staring at the code for too long without a break 😳

Thats a weird position for a magsafe port...

I guess the snazzy photos on Apple Newsroom are going to be replaced by AI slop :(

Update: Its just a weirdly placed shadow under an SD card, not a MagSafe Cable😳, tho the image does still look like its at least partially AI generated (Thanks @ncb for the save)

My life is complete...
I think I’ve settled on a theme for my development devices…
