If you see this and you work at #Apple, I’m on a 2019 i9 MacBook Pro with a 5500M and 64GB of RAM, with the latest version of Tahoe. Please fix the bug where Preview takes 30 seconds to save a file. It literally holds up my system with the spinning beach ball cursor.

Incidentally, I picked mastodon.social because I wasn’t sure what else to choose, and my first choice wasn’t accepting new users. If anyone knows a #mastodon instance where they think my account would fit in, give me a heads up. If I like it, I’ll happily migrate my account.

If Bluesky users *are* worried about private equity coming in, abusing their private data, and targeting them with ads… well, there’s always #Mastodon. Bite the bullet and pick a Mastodon server to join. If you find a better one later, you can migrate your account.

I think #Bluesky knows perfectly well their users *hate* private equity firms, and delayed this announcement because they feared it would be alienating. Yet, they were going to have to announce it eventually, and now the delay *is* the story.

One way to mitigate this is to go into the display configuration panel in the LisaGUI preferences app. There, set the screen bezel to always be displayed, and increase the bezel’s thickness so there’s sufficient padding to prevent your cursor from reaching near the top of the display.

Incidentally, I know this because I caved and bought a MacBook Neo. It seems like, for some tasks, it’s on par with my 2019 Core i9 MacBook Pro. I don’t know if that says more about Apple or Intel.

In LisaGUI, this causes issues selecting dropdown menus from the main menu bar. Among other things, it prevents sticky menus from working. So now I have to add an option to manually capture the mouse, or do some other weird thing to mitigate this issue, which was never a problem before…

So apparently there’s a weird bug where, on a MacBook Neo (& possibly for other MacBooks w/ rounded corner displays) when you open an installed PWA (from either Safari or Chrome) and click near the very top of the screen, the cursor may briefly relocate to the bottom of the screen.
