A pregnancy center can bill the state $14 for distributing diapers that cost the center just over $.25. And before parents can get those diapers, they must take a class that the center can bill the state $30 for each hour of class a client attends.

Two years after Roe v. Wade was overturned, Texas leads the nation in funding for crisis pregnancy centers. The system is meant to help growing families, but it’s riddled with waste and lacks oversight, a ProPublica and CBS News investigation found.
DANG! AWS is on a roll with powerful new security features! Introducing: VPC Block Public Access. This setting can be used to enable:
- Bidirectional block
- Ingress-only block
- Granular exclusions for specific VPCs or subnets

With https://bird.makeup, you can create bot accounts that put those tweets in your Mastodon timeline. For instance, I follow the Washington State Patrol account for regional weather related road closures and accident reports:

People posting things they're working on professionally or personally is *literally why I'm here*.

Late last night, AWS announced Lambda SnapStart, a mechanism that takes a snapshot of the Lambda’s VM environment on deployment. For Java 11 apps, this can bring cold start from 6 secs to 200ms
SnapStart takes a snapshot of the “VM” post the function’s init. We also have hooks to the `beforeCheckpoint` event (after init, before snapshot) and the `afterRestore` event (at lambda cold start, right after restoring snapshot, before function invocation).
