A particularly moonlit winter's eve in Cardiff tonight.
The #AngloSaxon relationship with time was far more interesting and magical than just a name or a date. To us, today is #Tuesday (Tíwesdæg [ ᛏᛁᚹᛖᛋᛞᚫᚷ ]), named after the God Tíw and that had power. However, we are going to talk about the night between Tuesday and Wednesday; it was known as Wōdnesniht [ ᚹᚩᛞᚾᛖᛋᚾᛁᚻᛏ ] or Wōden's Night.
Each word spoken has magic, the days were dedicated to each #God and using those names invoke the magic of each ós [ ᚩᛋ ] deity. So as the sun goes down on Tuesday, the time of Wōden starts, the darkness invoking deep magics of the Father God himself.
They say, that when a #FullMoon (mónaþfyllen [ ᛗᚩᚾᚪᚦᚠᚣᛚᛚᛖᚾ ]) falls on the Wōdnesniht you can experience wódendreám [ ᚹᚩᛞᛖᚾᛞᚱᛖᚪᛗ ] or Wōden dream. A way to see forward to the eftwyrd [ ᛖᚠᛏᚹᚣᚱᛞ ] - the end of this world and the renewal into the next world cycle.
