There can be beauty in death, bittersweet as it may be. A death surrounded by family, music, memories—love.

A piece inspired by a new friend. Mixed Japanese calligraphy and Latin #calligraphy. India ink on parchment-textured paper.

Poetry is my own. I am a student of the Japanese language, pardon awkward poetry—at the very least I expect I've rather unceremoniously mixed classical and modern Japanese.

(4/x) First sketch of the first couple! Not 100% happy with Asami here, but very happy with Korra. I'll probably adjust these sketches digitally, if needed, and trace them onto my final paper for watercolour once I'm fully satisfied with them.

(Definitely not confident enough in my illustration skills to sketch directly on my final paper!)

(3/?) I seem to have forgotten about updating this thread. Let's keep going—I guess the next logical thing would be the third silhouette!

If you know what this is from, this should be instantly recognisable.

"Don't let your instrument get in the way of your music." — David Darling (1941–2021), founder of Music for People, an American #cellist who taught #music and #musicImprov as a fundamentally human mode of expression, accessible to all regardless of musical training or experience.

Medium: India ink, gouache on cotton paper. Foundational, Italic scripts.

Have some season-appropriate #calligraphy, y'all!

This is a poem composed by MATSUO Bashō in the spring of 1691 (English translation by OSEKO Toshiharu):

不精さや掻き起されし春の雨
bushōsa ya / kakiokosareshi / haru no ame
My laziness! / Awakened from idle slumber. / The rain of spring. ( Toshiharu Oseko)

A little calligraphy practise for tonight. =3 It's the text to "Akatonbo" (Red Dragonfly) by MIKI Rikū, set to music by YAMADA Kōsaku in the early 20th century. Today, "Akatonbo" is a well-known children's song (and art song!), nostalgic and bittersweet in character. https://helloprolyrics.fandom.com/wiki/Akatonbo

Hello! Project Lyrics Wiki

(2/?) Here's the second silhouette, for another part of the triptych. You might have seen it before.

#DesertBus #DB2025 #Craftalong

All right, time for my #DesertBus #DB2025 #Craftalong thread! I'm getting an early start on the project I didn't manage to finish for last year. Partly because my main SSD died, partly beause I *spilled ink on 2/3 of the artwork*. Still very frustrated at last year's outcomes. =(

First off: vectoring some silhouettes, part of the work I lost in the great SSD controller death of 2024!

Here's one silhouette, for one part of this triptych. What is it? What's it for? Take a guess ;P

I just finished a keyboard layout and keycap design!

This is designed as a macropad to use with Sibelius, a music notation programme, alongside a normal keyboard and mouse. It replaces all the layers of the Sibelius numpad.

The keyboard layout is intended for a Planck keyboard.

It... accidentally started going trans colours as I was designing it, so... it's now *intentionally* trans colours!
