I just found out about KeyCon, a mechanical keyboard convention happening in DC tomorrow.

I would 100% be there if it weren't for the ridiculous birthday parade clusterf*cking up the city. They picked the wrong day for this thing.

I’ve been into custom keyboard layouts for a couple years now, and from there it makes sense to try different shaped keyboards instead of just different key arrangements. I decided i want a Chouchou [https://github.com/dlip/chouchou] keyboard with Taipo [https://inkeys.wiki/en/keymaps/taipo] and i have questions before i go buy a bunch of parts i don’t know how to use. dlip (who made Chouchou) recommends low profile choc switches and keycaps. I know what a switch and keycap are, and that low profile is just a shorter key than what’s standard, but what does choc mean here? This is hard to even research without knowing what non-choc switches are called. The thumb keys look like normal switches with slightly longer caps, and i’m guessing 1.5U means it’s 1.5 units along two of its sides. Is that right? Is there anything else i need to know about PCBs or QMK? Or about mechanical keyboards in general?

My ocean wave keycaps just weren't right for my office keyboard. I replaced them with some black and purple. It makes a big difference. I'll have to find a lighter keyboard base for the ocean keycaps.

The base is an Inland Gaming MKPro 75% keyboard. Inland is MicroCenter's in house brand. Since I use this at the office I installed Kailh Box Islet Pro silent switches. I think it is perfect now. I do love the switches and my cube mates appreciate the low noise level. #mechanicalkeyboards

New release from Signature Plastics: SA Motorsport Selectric. Really like this colorway. There’s a reason this has always been my favorite keycap manufacturer. Currently out of my price range but damn. https://spkeyboards.com/products/sa-motorsport-selectric #mechanicalkeyboards #mechanicalkeyboard #mechkeys
Completed my double trio of #MechanicalKeyboards. From top to bottom: brown, red and blue switches; small, medium and large layouts; Ducky mini one, Keychron K2 and Filco majestouch.

DIY Alps build, including Walnut case with Pecan inlay.

Playing games that use the Fn keys on my Mac. I haven't been able to get them to work in the game. Found out thess are mapped by my Mistel keybaord in "Mac" mode. That mode makes the command and alt keys be in the correct places, but also makes the Fn keys not be Fn keys.

So now I'm looking for a new #keyboards. I'd like a split keyboard with a number pad. They don't really exist, far as I can tell.

I have a #dygmadefy that I was on my way to really liking. But thumbs aren't designed to move like that to hit that number of different keys. Pretty much instant tendonitis, or worse, happened to me. So that style is out.

Looking for #mechanicalkeyboards with number pads.

Changed key switches again on the weekend! I was using Sunset chocs in my #ZSA #Voyager, found them a bit rougher than I'd like. Decided to try clicky Jade for a change. Oh my, so clicky! Probably not my last change - is there a tactile alternative between Brown and Sunset? #MechanicalKeyboards https://www.zsa.io/voyager https://keebd.com/en-gb/products/kailh-low-profile-choc-jade
