Checking PSK-Reporter, I was shocked how well my EFHW was working just thrown into the rafters of the park shelter I was in (on 20 meters).

Got a used 6th gen iPad Pro (also 12.9") on its way to me now and I'm excited to start doing a lot more radio!

Tested out a new setup today after discovering how well the SDR-Control iPadOS works with the IC-705.

Only real issue I had was difficulty making FT8 contacts. Turning "Monitor" on, I heard the occasional audio drop on TX.

Well, I was using a 1st gen iPad Pro (12.9") and had to close all my other apps to get it working without drops.

@vk6flab The FCC didn't know in advance. The network suits told Colbert that he would have to provide equal time to the other political parties though.
@kb6nu Totally agree! I saw this press release and laughed all the way to the back-arrow on my web browser!

FCC adopts final rules implementing WRC-15 Final Acts (60-meter band changes):

These changes go into effect 30 days after this is posted in the Federal Register, so we have to wait a bit longer!

@tsherrygeo It goes into effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.

This is NOT yet in effect.

@bud_t I'm a big proponent of AREDN. Our ARES group uses it and my ham club uses it too.

It's strength is that once the node is flashed with the firmware, little needs to go into deployment since it is a self-healing and self-configuring system.

We mostly use it for adhoc deployments like Field Day. We use it at repeater sites too since it makes tunneling into equipment much simpler than traditional VPN networks.
