@AE4WX @ai6yr @amyedge @BakerRL75 @czarbucks @Jennifer @technodad Good morning 'all. Starting the morning with one of those days..... . Left my badge in the car and had to do the walk of shame back to the car to get it. Went to my first meeting on the day and forgot I hadn't put the keys back in my jacket. And it looks like we might get snow on Wednesday night....

Trying to get my stuff together this week and get things organized. Two #AmateurRadio meetings this week. Hopefully another #AREDN RF node going up on Saturday; have to prep all fo the equipment for installation.

A great big shoutout to Ben @ai6yr for all that he does here on Mastodon and elsewhere (I didn't want to mention the "W" word).

Folks, let's make this a great day. Be safe, and let's be careful out there.

Semper Gumby!

My #AREDN RF nodes was offline (Ubiquiti Rocket M5). I isolated the problem to somewhere outside the shack (router and PoE were ok) and when I went up on the roof to investigate I found this!

I think the high winds had pulled the cable into a piece of exposed flashing and it had cut the Ethernet cable! So I've ordered a new cable (these are outdoor rated) and will mitigate the flashing issue.

Well I now have a #bpq node running on #AREDN. I wonder if it will get used

#hamradio

@scott @k3fnb I started setting up a linbpq node on my #AREDN node a while back but haven't finished it yet. The config is a bit confusing. I should finish off that project over the holidays

Good morning y'all! Cold and breezy in the lower Susquehanna valley, which will continue pretty much all week and into the weekend. It's making those outdoor outings I did on weekends too much of a challenge, as I find that as I get older, my body does not tolerate the cold as well as it did in my younger days.

Got through all of my projects that were due by the end of the year and sent them on for approval. The latest one came back with editing change requests, but it's not a lot of work compared to the "lift" I had to do with the original project.

Randi, I am sorry to hear that you are having more health challenges. Take it easy. Hoping you get better quickly and painlessly. Kitty compresses for the win!

Amy mentioned it doesn't feel like Christmas time; I'm feeling the same way. It's starting to feel like a chore. instead of enjoying time with friends and family. Maybe the Grinch spirit is taking over, supported by all of the mayhem and chaos in the world.

Worked a lot on my #amateurradio #AREDN projects over the last week, and managed to solve some of the linking problems. Hoping to have enough nodes in place over the next two years that are not dependent on the internet or cellular networks to pass public safety data during outages and infrastructure disruptions.

I hope and pray that everyone has a great day and a great week. Stay safe, and let's be careful out there today!

Semper Gumby!

I was using this map to look for #hamradio operators near me in good locations to put up an #AREDN node, and then reaching out to them to see if they wanted to mess around with it. I triangulated with #APRS activity to see who might be active in similar stuff, looked at QRZ pages (and lookups). So far I've emailed the person. Even though this is the density of operators near me:

Just checked the #FFWN check-in progress with this setup and downloaded 23 #Winlink messages blazingly fast over #AREDN about 0.8 miles from my QTH.

@BakerRL75 @czarbucks @firefly @AE4WX @amyedge @ai6yr @Jennifer Good morning y'all. It's Sunday.... the day before dreaded Monday. And I am NOT looking forward to work tomorrow.

Yesterday's #AREDN presentation to York County (PA) amateur radio operators went fairly well. I saw some eyes glaze over, but I managed to keep people engaged. I even managed to work through a facility power outage that caused me to reset all of my audiovisuals. I have at least one club that's interested in putting up a radio node in one of the better locations in the county.

Today I'm troubleshooting my main #AREDN Go Kit. It had some issues yesterday, so I'm updating the software. Later will be a trip to Sam's Club for food.

Let's be careful out there today.

@orv I've successfully set up RMS Relay on a PC connected to my home #AREDN node (W0RMT-HOME) to serve as a #Winlink Post Office. But I'd like to see if I can configure BPQ32 on a raspberry pi to act as a relay to the CMS instead. I've found some disconnected pieces of info on the web, but I was wondering if you knew of a resource or a person who has done this? It would be much better running the pi 24/7/365 and more reliable, too. I've got BPQ32 freshly installed on a pi connected to the node.
