Long-time ham, CW operator, #hamradio blogger (KB6NU.Com), author of the "No Nonsense" amateur radio license study guides. I used to be:

- Communications Manager for Amateur Radio Digital Communications (ARDC),
- Freelance writer and editor,
- Website developer,
- Technical Editor for Test&Measurement World magazine,
- Electronics test engineer.

I enjoy all kinds of #hamradio activities, but my favorite thing to do is operate CW, Second would be teaching ham classes.

40 meters is oddly open to South America. Am now working CP4BT, although it doesn't seem like he's copying me very well. Heard YV5COR earlier.
Geez, the 40-meter band is really rough right now. #hamradio

#ARRL is no longer worthy of your trust.

It's not malice, it's sheer incompetence. The Board needs to resign, en masse, after firing the paid staff. Or at least fire the $350k/yr "CEO" - they may need to leave a message for him as he's likely out showing houses.

Go to arrl.org, log in using the poorly-implemented "personify go" interface, go to your settings, and delete any "saved credit cards" you may have there.

Learned about the defunct Monitoring Times magazine recently. I really like Publisher Bob Grove’s All About Antennas collection. Lots of practical and specific advice useful for new hams. Like this, about operating inside and losses due to particular sources and materials. http://www.monitoringtimes.com/antennabook.pdf
