Apparently obsessed with rabbits, also retro computing. He/Him. Trans Rights are Human Rights and don't let anybody say otherwise!

😈 Manual mode, Viktors, no more AI toys for you!

This feels really insightful, I gotta say!
It's so cool that anthropic is setting up a double-sided protection racket where it will profit from the massive token burn of attackers and defenders with a tool specifically designed to generate exploits and their only observable mitigation is a clientside system prompt that sternly warns the LLM to be good and not do malware

you know that problem where it's actually in Google's best interests to sabotage their traditional search results to force everyone to use the AI results because then you never leave the site and direct prompt advertising becomes extremely valuable? yeah, it's like that for code, where it's actually in anthropic's best interests for all the code to be entirely unmaintainable and unsecurable except for with LLMs

The bit that boils the blood here is the way they specifically say "14 to 18 years after their initial launches", like they're reproaching customers for hanging onto their old kit for so long, when what they're actually doing is intentionally breaking products that were still working, to force people to buy new ones

Okay I have about 900 Kindle books that I've paid for. I've never dared try stripping the DRM off them in case Amazon somehow finds out and blocks my account, losing me the rest of them. But since Amazon's planning on deprecating my Kindle in May now I guess I have nothing to lose. What would everyone suggest? And can anyone recommend a good e ink reader to replace the Kindle that can read files from any source?

Stumble-bee rescue

This morning I spotted a bumblebee dropping out of the sky. The night can still be rather cold and the poor thing was only barely awake at all because of it. I let it climb onto my hand and gave it some lukewarm sugar water. After it warmed up, it did some charming calisthenics, and managed to fly off again.
I used to give such bees honey water, but that can be very bad for their little bee family, so I recommend sunshine and sugar water in such cases.💚
