If you want an ebook of some public domain work, either:

1. Check standardebooks.org before Gutenberg. They clean up books from Gutenberg with sane typography and print design.

2. Consider buying a "Dover Thrift Editions" version of the ebook. Many fly-by-night ebook "publishers" are turning a quick buck on selling you a Gutenberg edition. Dover is a real publisher, even in print, and their well-formatted ebooks of public domain works are usually under $4, or even less.

Bloody hell you can print owt these days

Whoever designed the Mac pointer hit a home run 40 years ago and it hasn't touched ground yet
Yesterday would have been Aaron Swartz's thirty-seventh birthday. Aaron did so much great that contributed to our freedoms in technology and on the Internet. And, if you don't know yet about his life and legacy, we encourage you to watch "The Internet's own boy" on PeerTube: https://framatube.org/w/1zywKcr1ChzL7R9rG6yCnq #AaronSwartz #AaronSwartzDay #CreativeCommons

Just rediscovered that I could set the Apple Watch to upside down mode! This lets me put the buttons on the left, instead of on the right. Now I will no longer accidentally hit the main button when moving my wrist upwards (like to do a push-up). I also just rediscovered the bands are removable and upper/lower swappable, so I swapped upper/lower and now the watch isn't upside down anymore, it's right side up for me now, with the buttons facing upward my arm as they should have been all along.

God this is fun. Just gaslit, girlbossed, AND gatekept this dummy. Interesting that they call it โ€œMy AIโ€ but explicitly tell it to not refer to itself as AI.

The great Tony Bennett has passed away at the age of 96. He was the last of his kind, a master of the American songbook. He may have left his Heart in San Francisco, but he won all of our hearts, from Sinatra to Lady Gaga. Be at peace, and sing to us now from the stars, Tony.

programmers are always posting like "worked on tracking down an issue with a Flurble deployment for twelve hours. the problem wasn't in Flurble at all - it was in the Gumbies install. It turns out if you install Gumbies 3.0 over Gumbies 2.7 and don't do a cache flush on all the client spiders they'll get stuck in the crystal maze." then you look up Gumbies and the site is one of those scroll scroll scroll types with one sentence per page, like

"GUMBIES is a lean, expressive sharding sandcube for testing and deploying large scale Woodchips playgrounds.

GUMBIES automates and streamlines away watersliding phases, meaning your team can get right to the chipping.

See why Microsoft, OpenAI and Bloingo have embraced GUMBIES in their Woodchips workflows."

and you get to the bottom and you're like I want this I guess but I still don't know what it is

It will be great when and if Threads completes their promised โ€œfediverseโ€ integration. Having all Threads users automatically reachable through Mastodon-style addresses will be great to tie the services together. Too much centralization, though. Unless Threads splits into shards, the sheer volume of users there (copied from Instagram) would quickly displace mastodon.social as the center of the Mastodon world.
