It's so funny to go from absolutely slamming surf/shorebreak last night to I95 traffic jams and boring/sterile office work.
Since "we" are all excited about LLMs writing our code for us, why are we having it write code vs having it spit out pure binary, since we are all going to lose the ability to even understand what it is writing? Just cut to the chase.

Cruising through this past weekend (Saturday).

I was forced to watch TV news when I had breakfast in a diner recently and I strongly resonated with the sentiment that being an intelligent person in America today is like being awake during a surgery.

The word “community,” a timeline:

1950: The people who live near you and help when your house floods
1990: A group of people with shared interests who meet regularly
2010: An email list you can’t unsubscribe from
2015: Anyone who follows a brand on Instagram
2020: A Discord server with 40,000 strangers and one moderator
2024: A Slack workspace your company forces you to call a community because it’s cheaper than actual culture

Lmao.
I don't like getting phone calls so much that when I turn the volume up on my phone and it plays to give you a sense of what level it is at, I immediately get PTSD.
I always watch local City Commissioner and Planning/Zoning meetings in 1.5x or 2x speed. So when I attend one in person, I think ~'man these people are talking slow!'

End of the year:

Favorite new Album: The Clearing by Wolf Alice

Favorite new group I first heard this year: Ecca Vandal

Every winter we have these long stretches without waves. Then like last night the surf is good. I have to put on a wetsuit and I then I surf for 2 hours. I am weaker and sore from not surfing much at all. Then like every year I say ~'I'm never going to go this long without some sort of surf exercise so that I am always in surf shape.' But then the surf gets more consistent and I get plenty of exercise and forget till the end of next flat spell.
