Today is Fork's birthday 🎂. It's been 10 years since the first commit. Time flies, but when we look back at our journey, it turns out it hasn't been a short one. Thank you for being with us, for your feature requests and bug reports! ❤️ Looking forward to the next 10 years!🤘

Patreon being forced to pay creators through in-app purchase reminded me of a cool app I made two summers ago.

VPN clients on iOS lie on a spectrum between selling you out to data brokers or being expensive subscriptions.

Having prior experience with Digital Ocean my app made it easy to spin up droplets configured as VPNs ready to use from your iPhone.

It was so fast that droplets could be launched on-demand and shut down fast keeping costs extremely low.

@groue @calicoding @drewmccormack @cocoafrog @mattiem I think something like an async queue should be included in the concurrency library. The AsyncStream boilerplate is repeated everywhere for this sort of pattern, and we should make it easier to write because it’s a pattern that a lot of people need when order has to be guaranteed.

I finally posted my review of the Kobo Libra Colour. It might be my favorite e-reader being sold at the moment--but it's a rough time for e-readers. It's $40 more expensive than the Libra 2, the screen's dimmer and offers less contrast, and the color adds very little to the experience. 🙃

Kobo Libra Colour Review: Color, but at what cost?

All my computing devices, save one, have color displays. The last time I regularly used a computer without a color display was probably in the mid-1990s. The only exception is my e-reader, which&#8…

@fork_dev Oh nice, it’s the branch detail on hover that's new, isn't it?
It hit me immediately too. I felt nervous and uncomfortable finishing watching the ad. https://mastodon.social/@bigzaphod/112407651443356104

I wrote four thousand words on the follies of Humane, theories of what happened, and why you can't build Apple within the Venture Capital system. Enjoy.

Next month marks ten years since I left Twitter. I'm still proud of things I worked on, but I make an effort to avoid bringing it up unless absolutely relevant.

Talk too much about your past and you say, "I haven't done anything cool since then." People who make it their whole identity were usually just in the right place at the right time.

Letting go of the past may cost you social media clout, but it does wonders for your professional (and personal) growth.

🤯 The level of sophistication of the XZ attack is very impressive! I tried to make sense of the analysis in a single page (which was quite complicated)!

I hope it helps to make sense of the information out there. Please treat the information "as is" while the analysis progresses! 🧐 #infosec #xz
